Hi — I'm Vanessa. I paint in oil and acrylic. Mostly squiggles. Always colour.

Colour is where everything starts for me. Before a shape makes sense, before a subject becomes clear — there's colour. I follow it. My work is intuitive and a little playful, built up in layers until something clicks.

Outside the studio I shoot on film, which forces a kind of slowness I really love. I've crocheted for years. And I recently picked up carpentry — turns out I enjoy making things with my hands in just about every form it comes in.
